Slow Year

July has always felt like a month of loud bravery. We celebrate the kind of courage that demands fireworks, bold declarations, and sudden, sweeping changes. We are taught that to be brave is to be visible, to be fast, and to be productive even when the sun is at its peak and the world is begging us to rest. But as I sat with my own reflection this morning, watching the light shift across the floor, I realized that the most profound acts of courage I’ve ever witnessed didn't happen in a burst of speed. They happened in the quiet, uncomfortable decision to finally slow down. They happened when someone looked at the relentless pace of their life and decided, with a shaking heart, that they were going to choose a "slow year."
